International Youth Festival offers variety of options for students
interested in learning more about traditional music and improving
your skills.
Splore
Traditional Music Summer School
Monday 27 July - Friday 31 July
The Splore offers classes in fiddle, whistle, guitar and percussion
for students aged 12 - 16, with tutors from leading young
trad band. All for just £100 including lunch.
The residential option
is an additonal £100 and includes accommodation in single
bedrooms at the University of Aberdeen, breakfast and dinner.
The course ends with a public sharing for friends and family
on Friday 31 July.

Past students include Daniel Thorpe and Amy Lord (finalists
- BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award 2008)
Mairearad Green, (Box Club and the
Poozies) Mark Laurenson, Vaila Tait, Innes Watson (Borders
Young Fiddles).
Students have gone on to study at Plockton and RSAMD and many
are now pursuing careers in traditional music. Most
students taking part in Splore come from Scotland, however
we have welcomed students from Brittany in France, Waterford
in Ireland, Israel, Japan and Norway.
